Moore would have easily won.
In 2012, Moore beat a Democrat in the race for the chief justice of the Alabama Superior Court. He won by 2 points.

Alabama went for Trump by 26 points or so.
Moore was elected to the position of Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Alabama in 2001, but was removed from his position in November 2003 by the Alabama Court of the Judiciary for refusing a federal court's order to remove a marble monument of the Ten Commandments he had installed in the lobby of the Alabama Judicial Building. He then sought the Republican nomination for the governorship of Alabama in 2006 and 2010, but lost in the primaries.

Moore was again elected Chief Justice in 2012, but was suspended in May 2016, for directing probate judges to continue to enforce the state's ban on same-sex marriage despite the fact that this had been deemed unconstitutional. Following an unsuccessful appeal, Moore resigned in April 2017, and announced that he would run for the United States Senate seat that was vacated by Jeff Sessions upon Sessions's confirmation as Attorney General of the United States.
Conduct allegations or not, Moore was never a lock. Two time election loser, twice removed from his post as Chief Justice.

Bannon and Trump really screwed up. This seat should never have been a contest. Alabama is as red as it gets...

Not to say you can believe any poll but Moore was up by ten points.
Your right, you can never consider any candidate as a lock.
He has had some controversial issues in past, but I would imagine that voters could overlook those in regards to what was stake.
The most recent controversy is what the voters in Alabama could not look past.
I would not say Trump screwed up at all. Trump originally wanted Luther Strange. Your dealt the hand you were given so you either play through or fold. I don't think Trump could afford to fold as the republican hold of the Senate is at stake.

I wish that the stupid republicans could get it on...

DJ was pushing for the slot to be filled by someone who was not soft on crime, soft on boarders and wants more tax hikes...

I don't think that DJ was pushing Moore
Trump then:
Trump tweeted that "we need Republican Roy Moore to win" in order to push through the president's agenda. Later, Trump called the Senate candidate directly to endorse his campaign, principal deputy press secretary Raj Shah said, and he has a rally planned later this week just over the state line in Pensacola, Florida. Some Alabamians have been receiving robocalls urging them to travel to the neighboring state for the rally.
Trump now:
President Donald Trump went back to Twitter Wednesday morning following Alabama's election stunner, claiming that he didn't endorse Republican candidate Roy Moore in the primary election because Trump knew Moore wouldn't be "able to win."

"The reason I originally endorsed Luther Strange (and his numbers went up mightily), is that I said Roy Moore will not be able to win the General Election. I was right! Roy worked hard but the deck was stacked against him!" Trump tweeted early Wednesday morning.

what are you Trump supporters going to do since a right wing paper goes against Fox News.

Wall Street Journal Disproves Mueller Smear

Fox News’ smear campaign against special counsel Robert Mueller just hit a major stumbling block thanks to information unearthed by the Wall Street Journal. Ironically, the conservative Journal is owned by Rupert Murdoch, who also owns Fox.

The Journal reports that FBI agent Peter Strzok, who was removed from the investigation for texts that were critical of Trump, also privately insulted Chelsea Clinton, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), and former Attorney General Eric Holder.

Strzok called Sanders, who campaigned for the Democratic presidential nomination, an “idiot,” and used the same name for Sanders’ supporters. In another text, he referred to Chelsea Clinton as “self-entitled.”

When Eric Holder spoke at the Democratic Convention, Strzok texted, “Oh God, Holder! Turn it off turn if off!!!”

The new revelations crush the narrative that has been spun by Fox News and their Republican allies in the House and Senate, who have tried to distract from the probe into Trump and Russia with allegations of bias.

What the new information shows is that the FBI agent in question — who was removed by Mueller as soon as his texts were discovered — aimed his rhetoric at both sides of the aisle. That is a far cry from the outlandish claims of Trump’s media allies, who have alleged that the FBI is a hotbed of Democratic Party sympathy.

Frequent Fox News guest and head of the conservative pressure group Judicial Watch, Tom Fitton, made the absurd claim on Wednesday night that “the FBI’s been compromised” and was turned into “a KGB-type operation by the Obama administration.”

It was clear that this hyperbolic and dangerous argument was wrong before, but the new revelations lay bare just how ridiculous it is.

Mueller has put fear into the Trump team and Republicans with his pursuit of justice. There are already two guilty pleas from Trump campaign officials on the record, while indictments have been handed down against others in his inner circle.

The probe clearly reaches the White House and goes straight into the Oval Office in a manner that worries Trump, his fellow Republicans, and their allies at outlets like Fox. Their reaction, per usual, is to deny reality and cherry pick information in the hopes of confusing the public.

But even those on the same ideological path as Fox and the Republican Party are reporting on real information — not selectively edited propaganda — that shows that their latest “bombshell” is nothing but a smokescreen.

WASHINGTON – On Aug. 9, 1974, Richard Nixon bowed to the inevitability of impeachment and conviction by a Democratic Senate and resigned.

The prospect of such an end for Donald Trump has this city drooling. Yet, comparing Russiagate and Watergate, history is not likely to repeat itself.

First, the underlying crime in Watergate, a break-in to wiretap offices of the DNC, had been traced, within 48 hours, to the Committee to Re-Elect the President.

In Russiagate, the underlying crime – the “collusion” of Trump’s campaign with the Kremlin to hack into the emails of the DNC – has, after 18 months of investigating, still not been established.

Campaign manager Paul Manafort has been indicted, but for financial crimes committed long before he enlisted with Trump.

Gen. Michael Flynn has pleaded guilty to lying about phone calls he made to Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak, but only after Trump had been elected and Flynn had been named national security adviser.

Flynn asked Kislyak for help in blocking or postponing a Security Council resolution denouncing Israel, and to tell Vladimir Putin not to go ballistic over President Obama’s expulsion of 35 Russian diplomats.

This is what security advisers do.

Why Flynn let himself be ensnared in a perjury trap, when he had to know his calls were recorded, is puzzling.

Second, it is said Trump obstructed justice when he fired FBI Director James Comey for refusing to cut slack for Flynn.

But even Comey admits Trump acted within his authority.

And Comey had usurped the authority of Justice Department prosecutors when he announced in July 2016 that Hillary Clinton ought not to be prosecuted for having been “extremely careless” in transmitting security secrets over her private email server.

We now know that the first draft of Comey’s statement described Clinton as “grossly negligent,” the precise statute language for an indictment.

We also now know that helping to edit Comey’s first draft to soften its impact was Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe. His wife, Jill McCabe, a candidate for state senate in Virginia, received $467,000 in campaign contributions from the PAC of Clinton bundler Terry McAuliffe.

Comey has also admitted he leaked to the New York Times details of a one-on-one with Trump to trigger the naming of a special counsel – to go after Trump. And that assignment somehow fell to Comey’s predecessor, friend and confidant Robert Mueller.

Mueller swiftly hired half a dozen prosecutorial bulldogs who had been Clinton contributors and Andrew Weissmann, a Trump hater who had congratulated Acting Attorney General Sally Yates for refusing to carry out Trump’s travel ban.

FBI official Peter Strzok had to be been removed from the Mueller probe for hatred of Trump manifest in texts to his FBI lady friend.

Strzok was also involved in the investigation of Clinton’s email server and is said to have been the one who persuaded Comey to tone down his language about her misconduct, and let Hillary walk.

In Mueller’s tenure, still no Trump tie to the hacking of the DNC has been found. But a connection between Hillary’s campaign and Russian spies – to find dirt to smear and destroy Trump and his campaign – has been fairly well-established.

By June 2016, the Clinton campaign and DNC had begun shoveling millions of dollars to the Perkins Coie law firm, which had hired the oppo research firm Fusion GPS to go dirt-diving on Trump.

Fusion contacted ex-British MI6 spy Christopher Steele, who had ties to former KGB and FSB intelligence agents in Russia. They began to feed Steele, who fed Fusion, which fed the U.S. anti-Trump media with the alleged dirty deeds of Trump in Moscow hotels.

While the truth of the dirty dossier has never been established, Comey’s FBI rose like a hungry trout on learning of its contents.

There are credible allegations Comey’s FBI sought to hire Steele and used the dirt in his dossier to broaden the investigation of Trump – and that its contents were also used to justify FISA warrants on Trump and his people.

This week, we learned that the Justice Department’s Bruce Ohr had contacts with Fusion during the campaign, while his wife actually worked at Fusion investigating Trump. This thing is starting to stink.

Is the Trump investigation the rotten fruit of a poisoned tree?

Is Mueller’s Dump Trump team investigating the wrong campaign?

There are other reasons to believe Trump may survive the deep state-media conspiracy to break his presidency, overturn his mandate and reinstate a discredited establishment.

Trump has Fox News and fighting congressmen behind him, and the mainstream media are deeply distrusted and widely detested. And there is no Democratic House to impeach him or Democratic Senate to convict him.

Moreover, Trump is not Nixon, who, like Charles I, accepted his fate and let the executioner’s sword fall with dignity.

If Trump goes, one imagines, he will not go quietly.

In the words of the great Jerry Lee Lewis, there’s gonna be a “whole lotta shakin’ goin’ on.”

MORE RUSSIAN COLLUSION!!!

CNN, MSNBC, NBC, CBS, ABC, AP....where are you???

Moscow, December 17, 2017
"Vladimir Putin thanked Donald Trump for the information passed on by the United States' Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) that helped detain the terrorists who plotted to set off explosions at Kazan Cathedral in St Petersburg and other public places in the city. The information received from the CIA was enough to locate and detain the criminals.

The Russian President asked the US President to convey his appreciation to the Central Intelligence Agency director and the operatives of US intelligence services who received this information.

Vladimir Putin assured Donald Trump that in the event that Russian intelligence services receive information that concerns terrorist threats to the US and its citizens, they will promptly pass it on to their US colleagues via partner channels."
Why do so many officials FEAR and kowtow to the Marshfield Airport gang?

What is the source of their power? Does it involve some kind of unseemly enterprise? A government entity?

Trump may be just like Obama: great at getting elected, but lousy at helping his colleagues get elected.

The Demos lost across the board during the Obama presidency.

Across the country, special elections are going to the Democrats, because Democrats despise Trump and are out there getting the job done on the ground. Republicans are not showing up.

And the Republicans are the party of Roy Moore, and you know Democrats will never forget that.

This trend does not bode well for Trump and the mid terms.

We'll see what happens after people see the increase in their paychecks, the vastly improved economy, GNP at 4% and the stock market doing well

The democrats seemed to forget or totally disregard Slick Willy's behavior, Did you vote for the rapist?

Many democrats voted against Moore because of the accusations and that's all well and good, those same voters voted for Bill Clinton, the rapist without reservations.

You're ignoring the fact that Dems really hate Trump,Trump backed Luther Strange and Moore (losers both) lots of Republicans despise him, senior Repub senators are leaving, young Republicans think Trump is toxic, Dems always outwork Repubs at the local level and have a mission to get rid of Trump and his party asap.

4% increase? Even conservative economists don't buy that for a second. Stock market? Who knows? 2008 could happen again, and on Donny's watch; then what?

Donald Trump just got permission to build two seawalls around his Irish golf resort.

Environmentalists say the barriers could damage the resort's surrounding natural resources.

In its 2016 permit application, Trump International cited rising sea levels and extreme weather as its reason to build the wall, Politico reported.

Trump, however, previously claimed that climate change was a "hoax" and was "created by and for the Chinese." His administration also removed climate change from its list of national security threats earlier this week.
Would have loved to see that course flooded. Sooner or later...

trillions of debt??
And 1.5 trillion more added to it by your corporate handlers in the swamp...

No worries, pretty soon food stamps, heating assistance, social security will be cut...somebody has to pay for the tax cuts, right? Some populist...
President Trump promised during the campaign to crack down on hedge fund managers who were "getting away with murder."
But a rule that allows some rich investors to catch a break on their taxes has mostly survived the Republican tax overhaul.
The tax break is called the carried interest provision. Fund managers pay a 20% tax on their share of investment profits, plus a 3.8% investment tax, instead of the higher rates they would pay if the money were taxed as ordinary income, according to the Tax Policy Center.
This is true even though their salary is often just a share of the profits they made managing other investors' money.
Business as usual...

It's obvious why he'd say that. Liberals would see that as a valid excuse to build a barrier. Just like how an illegal alien jumps ahead of everyone at the ER by stating they're illegal.
